Sliding Slinkies

Post by deleted-151918 »

I am doing the project Slinking Slinkies with a pair of students. We are trying to get the slinky to spring down the board but all it will do is slide. We are following the directions on the pages and it won't work. I even tried adding sand paper to the board to provide more friction so the slinky wouldn't slide but it didn't work? Please help. This is becoming very frustrating for me and the students. Thank you in advance for any advice you can give us. :?

I would suggest decreasing the angle as well as ensuring holding the slinky firmly, as in Figure 3 in procedures. Besides that, I apologize as I am unaware why else the experiment is not working. However, I hope that helps!

I have tried those things but the slinky only slides down the board, it will not flip like it is suppose to. :?:
