Need advice on a thesis involving decomposing bacteria, please

Post by deleted-435616 »

This school year, in ninth grade, we have to make a research thesis for our subject in... well, Research. So what we decided was to make a thesis involving decomposing bacteria that could thrive in highly-acidic soil and even in high temperatures if possible. We chose Alicyclobacillus. We had three treatments in which we would grow the bacteria in the same highly-acidic soil. One was bought, one was what we would get from naturally acidic soil, and the last was one we would cultivate to thrive in acidic soil. We would then compare their decomposing rate and growth rate, before making a conclusion.

We've got two weeks until our colloquium, and all we have so far is our paper thesis. We haven't gone and executed the experiment, to be honest. I just wanted to ask if there is anything positive that could come out of our experiment, like is it in any way beneficial to society...? Or if there is anything that could be improved, please reply.

Any help would be gladly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Also - what are the acids most commonly found in pollution? I found sulfur oxide and nitrous oxide because they could be found in acid rain, but I just wanted to get a second opinion. Thank you!
