agar bottles- microbiology

i would like to ask when we melt an agar in a bottle then we place it in the waterbath and keep it until we use it. After pouring it into plates there is some left for the next day to a put it in the refrigerator immediately after use or do i leave it on the bench to cool down and solidify and then put it in the refrigerator?
