Polymer Balls

A few days ago my class made polymer balls (made out of borax, cornstarch, PVA and warm water) and ours didn't work. We decided that our water wasn't hot enough so when we did the experiment today yesterday we made the water very hot (instead of warm water). Only this didn't improve the recipe at all. Why?

Let me know the measurement of each materials. using different proportions of the materials give different outcomes.
