Measuring magnetic field with multimeter

Post by s_geo »

I have a magnet removed from an old toy. I need to measure its surface magnetic field(magnetic flux density). I would like to know if I can measure it with a multimeter? If so, how? I need it to calculate the peak voltage generated by it(as given in section "How the generator works" in the sitehttp://www.creative-science.org.uk/gensimple1.html).Please help me. :?

This project explains how to measure magnetic field strength using a multimeter and some other inexpensive items.

You can also try running an internet search for terms like "build a gaussmeter". You'll find many other simple ideas.
