Getting a lab to conduct project

I am very passionate for the field medical sciences and was thinking of doing a project this year on cancer. Since I am only a 9th grader, would I have a chance to work in a certified lab to conduct my research?

It's great to hear how passionate you are about science! We have a program here at our University where a high school student can work on a project with a graduate student mentor for a summer (they even get to present a poster on it!). Maybe you can write to some of the research universities near you and ask if they have any programs like this. You could also inquire with your high school and see if they have any similar programs. Hi!

It's absolutely great to see that you're very interested in the medical science field. Many research labs in certain universities will allow high school students to volunteer and it's easy to just send an email to the principal investigators of these labs. Downside is that with you being in 9th grade, you're considered part of the younger end of high school student spectrum. Most labs can only allow students that are 16 years old (minimum) to volunteer. However, you should try to contact these investigators and see what they can do to help you get this project underway! Most investigators are willing to help and provide you with suggestions.

Hello!
I was wondering what types of carcinogens I can work with in a BSL 1 lab. Or a BSL 2 lab.I just don't want to use carcinogens in my project that require a BSL 3 lab, I prefer working in a BSL 1 lab for my safety. Also if you do not mind, which pathogens are allowed in BSL 1 labs?
