Senior Project Help

Post by deleted-485161 »

  • Hello ! I found this website searching for ways to come into contact with mentors for senior projects.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, so please let me know if i need to delete this.

I'm working on my senior project, and it has come to the time that I need to find a mentor in order for me to progress.
My topic that I picked is on the subject of GMOs and their effects on human health.

I need someone that specializes in biochemistry (even general biology would be wonderful at this point). Below are the goals from my mentor/student agreement form.
" - Allow students to extend their academic experience into areas of personal career interests, to include working with new ideas, issues, organizations, and individuals.

    - Encourage students to think critically and creatively about academic, professional, and/or social issues to further develop their analytical and ethical leadership skills.

    - Provide students with the opportunity to refine research skills and demonstrate their proficiency in written and/or oral communication skills."

The mentor agreement from the form is as follows.
"As a mentor, I agree to serve as a volunteer for this project. I will provide information and experiences that would assist the student in completion of the project requirements. I am committed to helping this student have a meaningful learning experience. I understand that I will be asked to complete an evaluation of this student at the end of the mentoring period. I may also be asked to write a letter of reference for this student."

I figure that I would eventually have to meet up with my mentor, so somebody in the state of Georgia is very heavily preferred.

    Thank you for your time!

Hello Calista and welcome to Science Buddies!

The experts at Science Buddies are here to help you with your science project, but not to be official mentors. It does sound like you are supposed to find an official mentor so perhaps some of the suggestions in this guide will help:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... tem-mentor

But the experts here will be happy to help you with your project if you provide more details about your hypotheses and your experimental design. There is even a Science Buddies project guide with lots of good suggestions for setting up your project.

Please do not hesitate to ask more questions related to your project.
