I have a question!

Post by deleted-488146 »

I have been adding substances to ice and seeing if they effect the rate at which it melts. But once the ice melts then the added substance mixes with the water and gives me inaccurate measures. Anyway i could know for sure that all the ICE has melted?

Hi varney67890,

I think your hypothesis of adding different substances to water to see how it affects the melting point is an awesome experiment! One thing that you can probably do to get accurate observations is mix the substances with water first and then freeze it. After it's completely frozen, take out the ice with different substances and time how long each cube will take to melt. Make sure each of the ice cubes melt in the same environment so you eliminate errors from your experiment.

Good luck!
