Hello,
Okay, so I had this experiment to do for my science project(Investigation into the Chemistry of Dietary Fats).I was to use six different types of oils/fats 5cm each, a tincture of iodine, test tubes, hot water in a container and a stopwatch. I was supposed to record the amount of time it took the iodine color in each oil/fat to disappear. I do not know how to write my critique for I have to also use the iodine value yet I recorded time. What am I supposed to do? Help me Plz.

Re: Degree of unsaturation in an oil/fat
Riamems,
Sorry for the late answer! One thing to keep in mind while analyzing your data is to notice the relationship between iodine value and unsaturated fatty acid bonds: the higher the iodine value, the more unsaturated fatty acids bonds are present in that fat. That being said, the faster the iodine color disappears from the substance, the lower amounts of saturated fats it will have. Here is a similar experiment you can look at for further research: https://www.cdrfoodlab.com/foods-bevera ... -palm-oil/
Hope that helps!
