hi,
my project is about direct programming to transform one cell into another
i've done background research on it and know about transcription factors and induced pluripotent stem cells and other stem cells but i feel like i'm just doing a research paper and that i'm not putting anything new in the project or not doing an actual experiment ...my question is how do actually start with testing it and not just researching about
i also want to put something extra i thought of is trying to reduce the formation of tumors"teratomas" when transplanting a ips into a host tissus

This is a pretty advanced project that you are considering. Working with stem cells and tumor formation would likely require a BSL-2 lab and some pretty expensive equipment. Do you have access to a university research lab with tissue culture facilities and BSL-2 working areas?
We can help you decide on a hypothesis and design experiments to test it but we need to know what lab resources you have first.
Post again with more information and the experts will be better able to help.
My idea has something to do with stem cells and genetic engineering.I'm trying to come of a way to reduce the chances of the immune system refusing an engineered organ by stem cells, but i don"t know where to begin and how to find articles i can rely on about this topic. I also have a problem with finding a mentor and a lab to conduct this experiment(i found a lab but it"s not fully equipped).Last question. Some people have said that this project could be hard for a 10th grader and requires a lot of skills and knowledge.any opinions??
Unfortunately I only have access to a Biology lab (i don't have much information about it).All i know is the person who works in this lab works on mice and medicine. she basically tries to modify medicines and gives it to the mice and then studies the if the side effects of such medicines are reduced or not
Any ideas on where to find the type of lab you mentioned above and a mentor to supervise on my work(what job should this mentor be working..)
thank you

You said you did have access to a lab where you could work. That's a start. Ask the person you talked to if she has a laminar flow hood and equipment for working under BSL-2 biosafety conditions. Labs that work with mice almost always have a tissue culture area where you could work with supervision.
How much time do you have? The kind of research you are talking about can take months or even years and be very costly. You could learn a lot just by doing some basic cell culture work. Cancer cells from humans or mice can be grown in plastic flasks or Petri dishes and you can test a potential drug on these cells to see if it kills them.
A more advanced project that you might be able to do would be to extract stem cells from mice, culture them under various conditions and then check them for certain protein markers that indicate their type. You would really learn a lot from doing this but it would require going to the lab almost every day and maybe also working for a couple hours on Saturday or Sunday. If you wanted to do a project like that you would have to be able to make the time commitment.
Let us know more about the lab where you can work and how much time you can devote to the project and we will be able to advise you better what to do your project on.

Please don't post questions about your project under different threads. It makes it very difficult for us to keep track of the other questions you asked that have been answered. If you are changing your mind about a project it is still better to keep all the Q&A together in ONE place so an expert can read what others have said.
I just posted an answer on your other thread so respond to that one and from now on please keep ALL your queries in the thread where you began!
