Hi disneyluver5578!

If you pass "what happens when you distill wood?" to answers.com, you'll get a wealth of resources.

The first entry under "Web Search" for “what? is an outline for an experiment of the kind you may be looking for.

I didn't do a query for "why?" "why?" may be answered in the "what?" results above, or you may need to run a separate query. (Or maybe another expert will step in. I don't have any experience with the labs, just web search experience.)

Some caveats on using answers.com (or any other search program):

1. beware of sites trying to sell you something. In answers.com, these sites would be segregated under "Sponsored Links," but occasionally these sites pop up under "Web Results." So, be vigilant.

2. Subtle wording changes can drastically impact the result. So, you may need to run the query multiple times to get the desired results.
Cheers!

Dave
