cigarette butts used as pesticide/insecticide

Well, I'm starting to make a science project when I've heard about this kinda pesticide. I was interested but then I do not know how to make this such thing. Could someone help me??!.. :?

Hi,

Have you looked at the link about "How to do a Science Fair Project"? This has information about getting started with your background research and then designing your experiment and so on.

What do you know about the chemicals that are in cigarettes? If you know the names of some of them you could try some internet searches to see if you enter insecticide and the chemical if anything comes up.
Post back with what you find.

Eco,
I think you are talking about the practice of throwing a few cigarette butts into a container of water, letting it sit for a few days, then using that solution to spray aphids and other plant pests? You can find more information about that practice by searching the web for "nicotine tea".

tNx for the suggestions. I do now starting my project and found out of how to make insecticide chalk from that filters. Don't you worry, I'll post it here on how to do it. Procedures are so easy and for sure everyone could make this homemade insecticide. :wink:
