Germination of Seeds

Post by deleted-542631 »

I am interested trying out the project on effects of radiation on germination of seeds, instead of keeping the seeds in a microwave 5,10,15 seconds can I use 1,2, 3 minutes on high.

Hi, coutinho! If the project specifically suggests that you microwave your seeds for 5-15 seconds, then microwaving them for a minute or longer is likely to be too long, possibly killing your seeds. Of course, if you're wondering how the longer time will affect seed germination, you could easily test this! Just add one or two more experimental groups to those recommended-- try a few seeds each at 5, 10, and 15 seconds, and a few more at 30 seconds - 1 minute.
