Global Warming Project

Hello again!
For our class's final project of the year, we are studying one aspect of global warming, and possible ways to alleviate the pollution we put into the air. Our group is focusing on the way power plants create the majority of consumable energy. We've already researched the possible strategies to alleviate the pollution power plants cause, as well as the plausibility of solar energy. We are asking if you know any other forms of alternative energy being developed that could possibly have an effect on energy production. We've already researched solar, wind farms, hydro-electric dams, nuclear power plants, and we'd like to ask for sort of a "double-check" on any energy sources we might have missed.

Sounds like a cool project! It also sounds like your class is off to a great start and has already thought of most of the renewable energy sources currently available.

One other option that immediately comes to mind is geothermal power. This is only a viable option in certain locations on earth, so if you are limiting your research to the United States you probably won’t find that using geothermal power would make much of a difference. In the spirit of learning, however, you and your classmates might be interested to know that Iceland currently gets about 30% of its power from geothermal energy! The only other energy sources that might be worth looking into would be certain renewable/low pollutant fuels, like biofuels (https://www.nrel.gov/workingwithus/re-biofuels.html) and hydrogen fuel cells (https://www.energy.gov/eere/articles/5- ... fuel-cells).

Otherwise I think you pretty much have the entire renewable energy spectrum covered! Let me know if you have any other questions.
