Hornless Dairy Cattle: Gene Technology

I need to write a report for my year 12 biology assignment about what methods of gene technology are being used currently to dehorn dairy cattle. I need to know what process is taken, what chromosome their horns belong to and how that is dealt with. Do scientists use Genetically Modified Organisms, or Genetic engineering (or genetic recombination)? Is Human Protein Production used, or Gene Therapy, or Agricultural Improvements or another type? is Recombinant DNA made and used? how are 6 of these steps conducted.
1. Selection of Desired Trait and its associated Gene
2. Isolation of Gene and Recombining of DNA
3. Creating the gene construct for insertion
4. Producing Copies of the Recombined DNA
5. Inserting the Desired Gene into the Target Organism
6. Expression of the gene
