Sunight on Yeast Cells

Post by deleted-537377 »

Hello,

I had a question about your experiment where you put a type of yeast that is very sensitive to sunlight under the Sun and see what happens. If I wanted to extend this topic and see which sunscreen would stop the cells from dividing, would I apply the sunscreen on the cells and see what it does or is there another way to approach this topic?

Hi Science114,

I think it would make sense to put sunscreen on the yeast cells and see if it stops them from dividing. You could even go as far to look at different types of sunscreens affect on the yeast cells. Whether a stronger sunscreen would decrease the rate of cell division or have a reverse effect.

Hope that was helpful!

Peace

Okay that makes sense
But these yeast cells are modified, would it still relate to human cells or not

I mean will it show a similarity to human cells, since these yeast cells have been modified

Science14,

I think it possibly could be relatable to human cells. It depends on what you mean by "modified" yeast cells.

On the procedures on your website, it says these yeast cells are genetically modified to be more sensitive to the Sun. Will this relate to human cells?
