3-D cartoons
Hi Lpeters,
There is a great program called Blender designed for 3d modeling and animation. It's free, open-source software that will run on just about any kind of computer, and the results are stunning.
But, I'm not sure if one could really call it user friendly. You should probably expect to spend something like 20 hours just getting used to the software before you'll be able to do much with it. There are a lot of great tutorials listed on the blender web site which will walk you through the process, and forums where you can ask questions. The learning curve is steep, and getting started requires a pretty serious time investment, but it can be a lot of fun.
