Hacking The Air Gap Basis Question

Post by deleted-697158 »

I have decided to do this project, so basically its telling me I have to choose a physical quantity and try to send a binary code statement through it. For Example if I said I choose light and if the any lux sensor measured it greater than _ lux its a 1 if is less than _ lux its a zero. If this is indeed the project's basis than how is this hacking the air gap and stealing data? If I have it all wrong could you please explain the project, I'd greatly appreciate it :D.

Hi AJtorres21 - your understanding is correct. The project is a proof-of-concept to demonstrate HOW you can transmit data from a computer across the "air gap" using various techniques, including light levels as you mentioned. You are not actually stealing any data. If you look at the project's Bibliography you will see some examples where researches actually used these techniques to transmit real data from a computer.

Hope that helps,

Ben
