SRC approval

Post by deleted-771436 »

Hi for the Isef paperwork there is a Potentially Hazardous Biological Agents Risk assessment form. In this it asks if you got src approval. There are some exceptions like Protists, Archaea and other related organisms. I was wondering if E-Coli bacteria counts as Archaea-like and is exempt from src approval. If not then where would I find someone who is in the SRC to approve my project.

E-Coli is a bacteria, and definitely one that can be hazardous to humans if used improperly. You will need approval to use it in a project. I can point you to https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... mittee-src for help getting started but it looks like you have already seen this probably. I think each fair will have their own SRC rules so I cannot be much more help. You will have to talk to your teachers or fair administrators about how to get approval and exactly what you need.
Great job following all the rules, a good scientist needs to know how to use resources safely!
