Antioxidents - Life Science

Post by deleted-528056 »

Hi,
I am a 9th grade student who is interested in doing a project on antioxidants.I would like to perform my experiment to determine if synergism exist between watermelon rind and banana peel which are both rich source of antioxidants. Combining them both would result is high source of antioxidants or not, is what i would like to test. I would like to test in both photo oxidative and auto oxidative systems.(this is my idea but not sure how to proceed). Any help/ advice/suggestions on this would be highly appreciated. And i am looking for a quick response. Please HELP!!!
I need help on how to proceed with this project and how to perform experiment.

Measuring antioxidants sounds like an interesting project. However, the assays are quite complicated. Thee are commercial kits, such as the TAC assay. The kits all range in price from about $300 and up. It may be best to look at other projects, which have easier assays. I've always liked growing plants as an assay.
Good luck with your science project.
