Predict how much a shell will dissolve in acidic conditions

Post by deleted-804026 »

Hello! For my science research project I am trying to see how changes in acidity and temperature will have an effect on the material strength of shells. For this topic, I am trying to predict how much the shell will dissolve in different pHs. If you can please help me to do so that would be great! :D

Hi kCivie7,

Take a look at this Science Buddies project:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... on#summary

In this project you measure the shell weight losses in simulated seawater at normal and reduced ph. The procedure could be adapted to include additional pH levels or fresh water if desired.

I hope this helps. Please post again if you have more questions.
