Troubling find time traveled

Post by deleted-809634 »

I'm doing "How Fast Do Seismic Waves Travel?" and the site for the seismograph always says that there's no available data for that station. So is there any other way to find the time traveled or is a seismograph the only way?

Hello and welcome to Science Buddies!

Are you doing this project?

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ves-travel

You might start by getting the seismogram using the default values for parameters as given in the Procedures section. When I followed that example, selecting the BKS station and leaving default values for all the other parameters, I got a seismogram in about 15 seconds.

Try that just to make sure you are connecting to this website:
http://www.ncedc.org/bdsn/make_seismogram.html

Let us know if that works. Also let us know what earthquake (date and time interval) you were using and which station you selected. If you get the message that no data are available at that station, try other stations. Let us know whether or not that solves your problem. Thank you for your patience!
