My group and I are having trouble and have a few questions. Our plan is to have a somewhat small mic (like the ones you might see on TV) connected to a soundproof box. Then somehow we amplify the signal through a speaker in the box which activates two piezoelectric wafers which power a 100 volt capacitor. I know there is a lot of room for error, that is why I am trying to get some expertise.

Are you and your group planning to do this as part of an experiment? If so, please post a little more details about your hypothesis / experiment details please.
Also, just FYI, the devices that you have mentioned in the post doesn't make sense. A typical piezoelectric sensor outputs a voltage may be up to 20V, the amperage is typically in the milli-amp range. This means that your power output is going to be very small (Power = Volts * Amps so you are in the milli-watt range). Compare that to the power output of your typical phone charger (typically in the ~10 Watts range) and you will that the number of required devices to make this work is going to be very large. (1000x)

This is a project/experiment for school. Are there any alternatives to the piezoelectric sensor that you could think of. The whole point of it was to amplify the sound, and if it does not do that we can cut it. We really just need a push in the right (different) direction. We're open to any ideas.
