Okay,this is due on the 14th. At least the notes. Then I type up my research bookklet thingthe next day. I need help finding notes fora 3-5pg essay.

Hey... we are in different parts of the country. Generally someone will answer within 24 hours- but you may be in a completely different time zone than the person who is supposed to help. This isn't a chat room- more like a bulletin board. You will almost never get an immediate response.

If you try a google search on "how does a sprinkler work" you get a bunch of sites. Once you understand how it works, you can figure out what influences the speed.

If you are interested in the speed of rotation of a rotating sprinkler (that spins around and around), then this is an exercise in Newton's third law, and the conservation of momentum.

Think of the sprinkler (and the water) as a closed system, and remember that momentum must be conserved.

The water entering the sprinkler has some linear momentum, the water leaving the sprinkler has some linear momentum, and the rotating sprinkler has some angular momentum, and momentum in the system must be conserved. What factors do you think can affect these momentums, and the rate at which the sprinkler rotates?
