What are pith rays and vascular rays in plants? What are their differences and what are their jobs?

I'm not positive about this but I believe they are the same thing but in two different regions. The pith rays being in the pith of the plant and the vascular rays being further outward in the vascular cambium. Both act as "veins" for the plant; transporting water and nutrients.

Hope that helps!
