Re: ecological footprint
Hello Vivi_333,
Looking at the impact of fast fashion on a person's ecological footprint is a fantastic project! According to Earth.org, fast fashion refers to the "cheaply produced and priced garments that copy the latest catwalk styles and get pumped quickly through stores in order to maximize on current trends." The Center for Biological Diversity states that the fast fashion industry is responsible for as much as 10% of the world's pollution, making it a huge factor in climate change.
Here are some links that describe the impacts of fast fashion in more detail:

https://earth.org/fast-fashions-detrime ... vironment/

To turn this into a science fair project, you could examine the ecological footprints of some of the largest fast-fashion businesses (e.g. Shein) and compare them to those of other industries that produce a lot of emissions (e.g. airports and energy). You could also examine the quality of fast-fashion clothing and research how that might affect microplastic pollution. If your goal is to find alternatives for fast fashion clothing, take a look at this project that goes into biofabrics and how to make them: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... biofabrics. Have fun working on this project!
