Help! Arduino Obstacle Avoiding Glasses

Post by btupsx »

Hello,
My group is working on this project for our science expo. We have made the circuit exactly as shown in the diagrams, and uploaded the example code to the Uno R4 Minima successfully. But the device does not work; the speaker makes a constant low volume beep every second or so, doesn't matter if anything is placed in front of the ultrasonic sensor or not.
Is part of our hardware broken? Using different sensors/speakers has the same result. Not sure what to do now, so posting here for help. Can upload photos/videos if needed. Please help if you can. TY!

To get the best assistance, it will help if you can upload (attach) pictures with your sensor, breadboard, and Arduino all clearly visible so someone can help check the circuit and make sure the sensor is connected correctly.

The steps in this post (on another thread about a similar project) can also be used to check to see if the sensor is working properly: viewtopic.php?p=76939#p76939

Thank you Amy! Please see attached for photos. If anyone needs anything else, please LMK! I will look at the link and code advice too, but we have tried 3 different sensors, and all of them behave exactly the same, so not sure it is a problem with the sensors.

Will try to upload a video if space allows.

Still need help please. We are using a R4 Minima, and not an UNO V3 shown in the diagram. Does this matter/is this causing the code not to work for us?

Can you please follow the steps to take a look at the serial monitor output to see if anything other than zero is showing.

Please take a screenshot of your serial monitor output.
(These directions are from another thread.)

Thank you! Using these instructions, it showed the sensor wasn't sending any output. Tested our second sensor, and same result, so had to buy another sensor.

The new (third) sensor did show output, so the two sensors we already had were defective! The example code now works for the entire system, and our project can move forward. Thanks again for your help!

Thanks for the follow-up to let us know you got this working! I'm glad that checking the serial monitor output helped you troubleshoot. That's a good thing to keep in mind.

Did you do this for a school science project?
