Sneezing Twice in a row

Post by Stefjlampard »

I have a student in my Grade 1 class who would like to know - why do we normally sneeze twice when we sneeze?
Thank you!

Hi,

To my knowledge, the second (or sometimes third) sneeze usually expels whatever irritant wasn't completely cleared. We don't always sneeze in ones because another sneeze ensures that all foreign particles are fully removed (the initial sneeze might not get everything out)!
