Re: Question about Build a Paper Roller Coaster activity
Hi Lisa, a standard piece of corrugated cardboard around 12x12 inches or 16x20 inches works great for a basic paper roller coaster.
It doesn't need to be exact—a side cut from a regular shipping box or a piece of heavy poster board will do fine. If your students are planning a taller coaster with a wider footprint, a slightly larger base like 20x20 inches gives them more stability and extra room for loops and turns.
Hope this helps with your class project!

Re: Question about Build a Paper Roller Coaster activity
In addition to the suggestions provided above, keep in mind that the cardboard simply offers a base. This can help with stability, but it also makes it easier to move the roller coasters around or store them in between working sessions.
