Lead? Soil? please i need help!!

:( I did a project for my school science project. It was "Are There DangerousLevels of lead in local soil" When we tested the soil we had to add inegar to the samples before we tested them. Can someone tell me what effect vinegar has on lead? Please I really need help.
How does vinegar extract lead from soil? How does sodium sulfanate react with the lead and the vinegar?

It sounds like you used vinegar (acetic acid) to extract the lead from the soil. Here is an example of another experiment where they used a similar technique for a different purpose:
