Electrolyte Challenge

Post by timcarr222 »

Hello I am doing the electrolyte challenge for my science experiment, but my teacher says i have to have an extension to it (add to the experiment/test something different). If anyone has any ideas it would be very helpful. Thank You

Hello Timcarr222!

Thanks for your question! I will try to help you here. I looked up the project you want to do: electrolyte challenge. Have you looked at the "making it your own" section of that page: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... eityourown

First, figure out what an electrolyte is, then figure out your purpose for doing the project..what will be the application of your research, or, why does it matter? Will this research help athletes, and if so, how?

Explore different electrolytes to compare to the sports drink. Did you know that salt (sodium) is an electrolyte? Read more on the electrolyte challenge page to find out what other electrolytes there are.
Do different sports drinks have different amounts of electrolytes? What if you diluted sports drinks, would they have same, more, less electrolytes as juice? Try different juices?

Hope that starts you off. Let me know how it goes and what your teacher says, I look forward to seeing how your project progresses. :D
Always remain curious,
Sarah
