Hi Kevin,

Welcome to Science Buddies. I’m not sure I can answer your question. I suppose that the key for understanding any type of disease is based on the genetic code.

This is an intriguing topic for a science fair project. What are you thinking about doing for your experiment? Depending on your resources, I suppose there are a number of projects that you could do on this topic. I recommend doing a Google search on Alzheimer’s and look for scientific papers. Read as much as you can and try to identify a specific experiment that you could do.

Since this is a science fair project, you would not be able to experiment on humans, but you could do a project on protein purification or perhaps on antioxidants.

Please post back if you have any questions.
