How Do Roots Grow When the Direction of Gravity Changes?

Post by india1103 »

In this project if we are not changing the direction of the seeds growth, but placing 6 different seeds at 6 different angles how do I figure out the variables. I have this so far.
Independents: The seed it self
Dependent Variable: the measurement of the growth of the roots.
Controlled Variable to be the one that grows normal at no angel.

Hi,

Good idea! I'd say the dependent variable and control look fine to me, but I'd revamp the independent variable to say something like "the direction/position of the seed." Out of curiosity, how exactly are you going to ensure that the seed is in one direction over another and take measurements?

Thanks! Hope this helps.

Thank you for your response. In the directions u use cd cases to hold the seeds together and I have purchased a yellow sponge like paper thats going to compress the seed to stay in one spot. We have clay modeling to hold the cd in place while the seeds are growing. We will be measuring the roots growth by taking a string and modeling the roots. Then we cut yhe string off and place next to a ruler for correct mesurements. Thanks again for your response
