Hi,

For my project I have to ask an expert two questions concerning my project topic: How does your blood pressure change when resting compared to when you exercise? ... These are my two questions: 1. Does the “normal” blood pressure vary from person to person; depending on their weight, height, activity level, etc. or is it the same for everybody?... and 2. Does your heart rate change your blood pressure?

Hello!

To start with some background information, a blood pressure reading has both a top number (systolic) and a bottom number (diastolic). If you are analyzing normal blood pressure, the recommended numbers are less than 120 over 80 (120/80). 120 being the systolic number and 80 being the diastolic number. In regards to your first question, you are correct that the "normal" blood pressure will vary from person to person due to the characteristics your described, but in order to be considered "normal" their blood pressure readings should be less than or very close to the recommended 120/80. A blood pressure close to this reading signifies a "healthy" heart, and those whose readings vary greatly from 120/80 could be at risk for heart and health problems.

For your second question, the rate at which a heart beats relates to how quickly the blood moves through the body. If a heart beats slowly, there is less force moving the blood throughout the body. Also, if someone has very low blood pressure, the heart will respond by pumping more rapidly.
