oxidation of Apples

Post by pete »

In my experment of oxidation the apples, i found that oranges did not stop the oxidation process when appleid to the apple. Why is that? I thought oranges had a lot of vitamin C. Is it the acid levels or sugar content? Please help.

-Lemons and limes worked the best. They are more sour. Does this have some thing to do with?

Hi pete!

You might try supplying "effect of acid levels on oxidation the apples" to answers.com. One of the referenced pages is actually a Science Buddies post by you! As an alternative you might try supplying the same query to askjeeves.com.

As a science experiment, there are displays of cut apples with four treatments: 1) no treatment, 2) treatment with orange juice, 3) treatment with lime juice 4) treatment with lemon juice
Cheers!
