Hi lennyface,

You are working on the following project idea, correct?

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p010.shtml

If you are using a USB antenna on your mobile device, laptop, or computer instead of an antenna on the router itself, then you should mount the parabolic reflector on the USB antenna, not the router. Than, instead of putting your wireless device 5 meters from the router, put the router 5 meters from the wireless device and make your measurements. Basically, whatever the procedure says you should do with the router, you should do with the USB antenna. Similarly, whatever the procedure says to do with the wireless device, you should do with the router. You are swapping their roles in the project.
All the best,
Terik
