Hi in my experiment I am trying to see if compost can release heat energy. what is the minimum amount of compost I can use to record this.

Hi - that's a great question to ask ahead of time before you get to far into your experiment. I did a little checking online and it seems that a compost pile the size of an aquarium (10 gallon) is enough to heat up and form compost... although it could take longer to heat up and take longer for the cdecomposition process to complete.
