- Project Question: I was doing the "measuring the Speed of 'Light' with a Microwave Oven" experiment, and I was wondering what the independent variables were in the experiment, and if there weren't any, if you could suggest some?

Frequency of a microwave oven.
Would changing the power level of a microwave oven change the frequency of the microwave? Say if I put the microwave on 90%, would the microwave emit a frequency of 90% of 2,450MHz?

Re: Frequency of a microwave oven.
DannySapp1127 - The operating frequency of the microwave oven's magnetron is fixed at 2.45 GHz. This is a frequency that has very efficient exciting capability of water molecules, and is also a frequency available in one of the ISM (industrial, scientific, medical) bands, which are internationally reserved for this use, so they don't interfere with other vital radio services. The power level does not change the oscillation frequency of the system.
