urine analysis
Hi there. We are planning to perform an experiment which needs the analysis of urine. Can some body guide me how we can do it ?

Re: urine analysis
Hi,
We can help you with this but first you have to tell us what you are analyzing for--sugar, protein, bacteria, blood??
There are urine test kits you can buy at a drugstore and they come with instructions that tell you exactly how to use them. You can also buy pH paper if you need to know the pH of the urine.
What is your science project? Repost to this same thread with more details and we can advise you on planning your experiments so that you get accurate, statistically testable data.

Re: urine analysis
Thanks for replying me. I want to test the BPA in the urine for the science fair project.
Please advise me that how can I do it? Can I test the urine for a ph? How can we relate ph levels to the BPA? Are there any kits available?
Thanks for your time.

Re: urine analysis
I am assuming that the 'BPA' you are referring to is the chemical bisphenol A--correct?
I did a search for 'bpa urine test strips' and found one site that has a method for DIY testing:
http://www.home-health-chemistry.com/Bi ... ction.html
The test will indicate whether or not BPA is present but it does not tell you exactly how much and i don't know how sensitive it is.
There are several other more accurate tests but you would have to have access to a research lab with expensive equipment and reagents and the knowledge of how to use them. Maybe some of the other experts know of some other way to detect and quantitate BPA in urine.
Let us know if you have more questions about planning your science project. It is better to ask the experts before you set up your experiments than to find out later that you made a technical error that could have been avoided.
