please help i am cracking my head for this

hello guys.... its been quiet a while since i have been cracking my head for this. it migth be simple but somehow am not able to get the logic right. i am new here so am really sorry if i sound out to be ordinary here.

my doubt is this: say i have a 10kw battery with me and i have 3phase induction motor which has maximum power of 25bhp that is 80 kw when converted. how is that possible how can i generate 80kw power with a 10kwbattery

You didn't really provide enough information to answer the question, but here's some info that might help. First, the battery isn't going to deliver anything except DC. If you have a 3 phase motor you have to convert the DC to 3 phase AC. I'm assuming you know that.

A battery is generally rated in Amp-Hours (AH) at some given voltage or Watt-Hours (WH). You said it was a 10kW battery, does that mean it has maximum output of 10kW or that it can put out 10kW for some specific amount of time? If you meant the latter, that would mean (if it was a 10kWh battery) it could 10kW for one hour, 20kW for 1/2 hour, 40kW for 15 minutes, or 80kW for 7 minutes. There are limitations in the *maximum* power battery will provide but you have to consider the time as part of a battery capacity.

So if you had a converter that was perfect and lossless, and a battery that had a 10kWH capacity with no current limitations, your motor could run for 1hr/8 or about 7 minutes. Are you talking about something like Tesla's home batteries? http://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/ ... -Unveiling
