The 'best' project is one that you're passionate about. The judges will speak with you and your success at the fair will depend on how well you convey your hypothesis, your test methods and your understanding of the subject. If you pick something that you don't care about it will be obvious - and you won't do well. The fair is also about having fun and learning something as much as it as the competition. Why spend time on something elective that you don't care about?

If you enjoy space as a topic, what about it interests you? Travel? Vastness? Life adaptations? One student at a fair here tried growing plants in a vacuum. Without access to CO2 the plants didn't do very well but talking with the student was really fun.

When YOU think of space and talk with people about it, what subject in the area makes your eye light up and your heart beat faster?
