Organism To Use

Post by KDTheScientist »

Hello, recently I have decided on conducting an experiment with caffeine on certain organisms. I am aware of the Daphnia experiment but wanted some other suggestions that would be useful. Thank you!

Hi,

Have you considered using the roundworm, Caenorhabdites elegans (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caenorhabditis_elegans)? They are fairly easy to work with and will respond to caffeine by changes in activity, reproduction, development, etc. I did a quick search and found one specific reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caenorhabditis_elegans

Hope this helps. Let us know when you have more questions and we will help in planning your project.

Good luck!
