mentor for brain/sleep project

Post by deleted-309086 »

I am considering a science fair project to study the brain's capability to reinforce learning during sleep. I am in the process of finding a mentor. I am not sure whether to consult doctors/scientists in sleep medicine or docotors/scientists in neuroscience. Which scientific specialty would you recommend for consultation on this type of project?

Thank you

Hello,

I think that either group would be good consults for this project. Both neuroscientists and physicians will have a well-developed knowledge base of this question and will be able to help you immensely. However, if you are able to locate someone whose primary focus is research on the connection between learning and sleep, I think that might be the best. You can do this by searching under the research interests of physicians and scientists at any university or affiliation through their websites. For example, locate through the department of medicine's website at a university, find a center on sleep medicine, and search the faculty list to see if anyone does research on your topic.

Let me know what further questions you have, and I'll be happy to help.
