WHERE THERE IS CHARGE, THERE IS SPARKS! HELP,HELP,HELP!!!!!
I am in need of help for this experiment. I last got a reply from rmarz and replied but haven't been answered. This was my reply: I checked and I don't have a leakage path. When I charge the jar from the electrophorus I sometimes hear a zap. I don't think I noticed the buildup of charge on the acrylic sheet but very rarely I hear a pop or zap. Right now I am having trouble with the part "Measuring the Charge" where you measure how far from the aluminum sheet the jar discharged.
If anyone could help me, I would be grateful. PLEASE HELP BECAUSE I HAVE ONLY THIS WEEKEND TO FINISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a time limit for charging and discharging the Leyden Jar that allows me to record it

ALS_aims - You should try to measure the distance for the discharge to take place as soon as possible after charging the jar. If you are convinced that the transfer did occur (you heard a snap), proceed with the distance measurement. You will only get one try and if you hear a distinct discharge, you are done. Perhaps doing it in a darkened room will help see the discharge. Humidity can be a factor and a charge could leak off after a period of time in a high humidity environment.
