Question about Hypothesis

Postby Arpitha105 » Mon Jan 11, 2016 10:38 pm

My son is doing the science project Are there dangerous levels of lead in local soil? He wrote the question of Whether the local soil contains dangerous levels of lead? He has doubt in hypothesis. Can you please explain us how to to write the hypothesis. How can we know that there should be lead levels in the local soil?
Thank you

Hi! Sounds like a fun project.

Here are some tips on how to write a hypothesis. This page also has several tabs of information about hypotheses.

Basically, the hypothesis is just an educated guess about the outcome of your experiment. What do you think will happen? Will there be dangerous levels of lead in the soil or will it be safe?

If you end up being right, good for you! If you end up being wrong, that's fine too. You shouldn't be sure of the answer to your question at this point, otherwise there would be no point in doing the experiment!

Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck! :D
