for the project about the mpemba effect: how does that help anyone by knowing whether hot water or cold water freezes faster? how are the results useful?

I’m assuming that you’re working on the project described here:

It may be that the “Mpemba Effect” is an interesting phenomenon that has no practical application as yet. But this effect is a consequence of heat transfer, as pointed out in the background section of the project.
Heat transfer is something that we all encounter daily. Probably the most important example is the radiative heat transfer from sunlight that warms Earth. More heat transfer examples are shown at the following links:
