My electroscope isn't working AT ALL!!!

I am doing the science project titled " How well do different materials create static electricity? ", and I had to build a household item electroscope. I followed the steps in the procedure EXACTLY and nothing is WORKING!!!! I have the rest of this weekend to finish this project and that't it. I have been trying to do the experiment part of this project for over 3 HOURS!!!!!!!!!! I also have improvised every single way I can think of. [edited by administrator] Can you please help?
