Hi Rachael,
Welcome to Science Buddies, It's great that you have some ideas about what you want to do.
If you have not started your project yet, and if it is due soon, I recommend that you do the following project: You will be able to do it fairly quickly.
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p012.shtml
You need to do an experiment for a science project, not just demonstrate the principle of water tension, so pick different solutions like water mixed with different concentrations of an alcohol or detergent and measure the water tension. The composition of your solution is the independent variable, the measured surface tension is your dependent variable. The project idea includes background information so you can explain the scientific principles behind your project as well.
Dissolving penicillin in different drinks is also an interesting idea, however, most drinks are water-based so I think results would be similar for all drinks. However, this project would work if you do a carefully controlled experiment and measure the results. Try to repeat results twice if you do this project.
For the project title, you can use a question that is answered by your experiment, such as, "How does detergent affect water tension?" Or, "What drink dissolves penicillin best?"
I hope this helps. Good luck!
Donna

Hi Rachel,
If you have some time to decide what to do, then go to the project selection wizard on this website and select a project that you are really interested in doing. If this is a long-term project, then you need to work on a project that is interesting to you.

Let me know what you find.
