A project

Post by deleted-355218 »

Hi Science Buddies! :D
I am trying to make a bomb/ earthquake protector, that can protect people in danger. Europe has been under bomb attack several times, and I want to do something to protect people. I then got the idea of a protector, that could protect people during those attack. My 1 idea was to make metal "room" in a pen, which should activate during attack (then I found out that it might be impossible and unrealistic)... Afterwards I got the idea of an "airpen", that should blow all the things away, under an attack... And then the idea of an backpack of metal, that should cover the body up...
I really hope you can help me coming up with a awesome idea, that also could help me entering the google science fair... :)

Protecting people from tragedies like the recent bombing at the Brussels airport is a worthy goal. The problem in creating a physical shield is that the blast happens within milliseconds--too fast to deploy a 'room' or metal suit. I don't think even an airbag could inflate fast enough. Some kind of electromagnetic shield like the force field protecting ships in Star Wars would work but the physicists and engineers haven't figured that one out yet.

I'm sorry I can't suggest any science projects based on your ideas. Do you have some other interests that might be easier to work on? You can try the Scibuddies project finder to track down something that tweaks your curiosity and is equally in tune with the needs of society. Green living, biofuels and solar energy/battery storage are really worthwhile areas for young scientists to work in.

You can also post your question on the physical sciences forum if it is more about engineering and electronics.

Good luck!
