I just did the old potato clock battery project but also tried it with strawberries and other fruits and veggies and it worked. Then I tried it with wieners and it worked. Then I tried it with 1 marshmallow and it did not work and I then piled 2 marshmallows on each end and it seemed to almost work flicking off and on. I dont understand why some foods work and the marshmallows dont. I tried to research for the answer but only find why veggies work but not why marshmallows don't work. Can someone explain to me what they are missing and why it almost worked? I need to know!!!!

Hi Godzilla215,

The liquids inside a fruit or veggie constitute the electrolyte that makes the battery work (and help complete the circuit). The marshmallows apparently don't have enough liquid in them to do either of those things. The background of this Project Idea goes into these ideas in more detail:
